Bio
Recruited from VFA club Yarraville after developing in the South Melbourne juniors, Les Meade was a wingman who struggled to cement a regular senior spot during his time at Melbourne. Finding opportunities scarce with the Redlegs, he requested a move to Hawthorn but faced significant administrative hurdles, with his clearance initially refused and delayed until the middle of the 1929 season. Once he finally joined the Mayblooms, Meade found greater consistency at senior level, becoming a reliable contributor across three seasons during a lean era for the club. Following his VFL career, he served in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve during the Second World War.
