Bio
Recruited from Broken Hill in far western New South Wales, Les Prior was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who ventured to Melbourne for a single season with Fitzroy in 1931. Standing just 170cm and weighing a slight 61kg, he relied on his agility and goal sense to compete at the highest level, managing an impressive return of 11 goals from his 12 VFL appearances. His brief tenure at Brunswick Street coincided with the debut of triple-Brownlow Medallist Haydn Bunton Sr., but Prior did not establish a long-term VFL career, eventually returning to the Barrier region where he resumed playing with West Broken Hill. He later settled in the Sunraysia district, living in Red Cliffs until his death in 1972.
