Stats
Bio
Recruited from Euroa, Les Reed was a versatile utility who carved out a place in Geelong's formidable lineup during the club's golden era of the early 1950s. Though capable of playing across the ground, he is best remembered for his role as the 19th man in the 1951 Premiership victory over Essendon, where he entered the fray in the final quarter to replace the injured Loy Stewart. While the extreme depth of the Cats' list saw him miss selection for the 1952 flag, he regained his spot the following year to play on the wing in the 1953 Grand Final loss to Collingwood. Regarded as a tough, workmanlike footballer who was a reliable mark and kick, Reed departed Kardinia Park after just three seasons to return to country football as a captain-coach.
