Bio
Recruited from the Swimming Club, Les Reynolds is best remembered as the uncle of Essendon legend and triple Brownlow Medallist Dick Reynolds, though he carved out his own brief but notable tenure at the Junction Oval in the early 1920s. Operating as a utility capable of hitting the scoreboard, he played 30 games over three seasons for the Saints during a challenging era for the club before retiring as a player at the end of 1924. Reynolds returned to the VFL field five years later in a different capacity, officiating three matches as a field umpire in the 1929 season. His umpiring stint included a controversial match involving his former side, where a St Kilda loss saw Reynolds besieged in the umpires' rooms by irate local supporters, marking a dramatic conclusion to his top-level involvement in the game.
