Teams

A talented dual-sportsman recruited from Alexandra, Les Stillman was a half-forward who showed flashes of brilliance during his time at Essendon. Although he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Bombers' senior lineup, he demonstrated his goal-kicking potential with a standout six-goal haul against Carlton in the opening round of the 1970 season. He crossed to the Western Bulldogs (then Footscray) in 1971 for a brief three-game stint before carving out a significant legacy in the VFA, where he captained Williamstown, won two club best and fairest awards, and finished runner-up in the J.J. Liston Trophy. Stillman is also well-remembered for his elite cricket career, representing both Victoria and South Australia in the Sheffield Shield as a middle-order batsman.
