Bio
Recruited from Preston Juniors, Les Warren was a sturdy defender who fought for opportunities in a powerhouse Fitzroy lineup during the club's 1920s golden era. Typically stationed in the last line of defence, he was described by contemporaries as a "strong and vigorous" backman who relied on physical close checking to subdue opposition forwards. Warren broke into the senior side late in the 1922 premiership season but missed selection for the Grand Final triumph, eventually enjoying his most consistent campaign in 1923 with 14 appearances. He spent the remainder of his tenure as a reliable depth player behind established defenders like Fred Elm and Stan Atkinson, playing 40 games over six seasons before bowing out of the league in 1927.
