Stats
Bio
Transitioning from Hawthorn's VFA setup to their inaugural VFL side, Les Woodford holds the distinction of being the club's first-ever leading goalkicker at the highest level. A reliable forward operating during the Mayblooms' winless debut season in 1925, he provided a rare avenue to goal for a side that struggled significantly against established opposition. Woodford booted 20 goals in his 13 appearances, enough to top the club's scoring list ahead of teammates who played more matches. His VFL career was confined to that single historic year, but his contribution remains a foundational statistic in Hawthorn's league history.
