Bio
A product of the Claremont colts, Lewis Stevenson was a dashing left-footed defender who spent five seasons on West Coast's list after being selected in the 2008 Rookie Draft. Despite possessing a penetrating kick and strong line-breaking ability, Stevenson found himself starved of senior opportunities, stuck in the queue behind established Eagles backmen like Shannon Hurn and Beau Waters. While he managed just 10 AFL games for the club, he became a dominant force at WAFL level, playing a crucial role in Claremont’s back-to-back premierships in 2011 and 2012. Seeking more game time, he was traded to Port Adelaide for a late draft pick ahead of the 2013 season, where he was utilized as a rebounding half-back. Although his AFL career remained sporadic—ultimately ending after an injury-plagued 2014 season—Stevenson holds the unique distinction of being a highly decorated state-league player during his time in the system, adding a SANFL premiership with Norwood in 2013 to his WAFL silverware.
