Bio
Recruited from Sturt with pick 49 in the 2016 National Draft, Lewis Young arrived at the Western Bulldogs as a raw but athletic key position prospect, following in the footsteps of his older brother Aaron. Despite an eye-catching debut season where he showcased his aerial capacity, Young struggled to command a regular spot in the Bulldogs' senior lineup over five seasons, often finding himself on the fringe of a deep defensive rotation or plugging gaps in the ruck. Seeking greater continuity, he requested a trade to Carlton ahead of the 2022 season, a move that immediately revitalised his career as he filled a critical void in the Blues' backline. Young quickly established himself as a prolific spoiler and intercept marker, notably leading the league in one-percenters during his first year at Princes Park. Now an experienced campaigner, he serves as a key pillar in the Carlton defence, utilising his significant reach and closing speed to quell opposition tall forwards.
