Bio
Recruited from the remote community of Yuendumu in Central Australia via the 2009 Pre-Season Draft, Liam Jurrah became the first Indigenous player from the desert region to play in the AFL. A spectacular forward with innate goal sense and exceptional aerial ability, he quickly achieved cult status at Melbourne, winning the Mark of the Year in 2010 and topping the club's goalkicking table in 2011. Despite his natural talent, Jurrah struggled to balance the rigid demands of professional football with significant cultural obligations and off-field legal troubles, which restricted him to just eight games in 2012. He departed the Demons at the end of that season, leaving a legacy as a mercurial talent who provided rare excitement during a bleak era for the club.
