Bio
Recruited as a mature-age sensation from Subiaco in the WAFL, Liam Ryan arrived at West Coast with a reputation for spectacular aerial ability that earned him the enduring moniker "Flyin' Ryan." He made an immediate impact at AFL level, playing a pivotal role in the Eagles' 2018 premiership campaign during his debut season, famously starting the play that resulted in Dom Sheed's match-winning goal. While initially renowned for his hanger-taking capacityโhighlighted by his 2019 Mark of the Year winโRyan evolved into a complete forward who was equally damaging with his elite field kicking and ground-level pressure, culminating in All-Australian selection in 2020.
Following eight seasons in Perth, where injuries occasionally interrupted his continuity during the club's difficult rebuilding phase, Ryan was traded to St Kilda ahead of the 2026 season. The move provided West Coast with draft capital while offering the Saints a proven match-winner to inject X-factor into their forward line. Now established at Moorabbin, Ryan operates as a high-impact veteran, tasked with providing aerial targets and creative goal assists as part of St Kilda's attacking mix.
