Bio
Drafted by Geelong with pick 66 in the 2011 National Draft, Lincoln McCarthy endured an early career defined by injury frustration. Despite possessing evident explosive power and aerial ability, persistent foot and soft tissue ailments restricted the South Australian to just 29 games across seven seasons at Kardinia Park. Seeking a change of fortune and a medical fresh start, he requested a trade to the Brisbane Lions following the 2018 season, a move that revitalised his prospects and saw him immediately become a staple of the senior side.
McCarthy evolved into a dynamic small forward, renowned for his capacity to take contested overhead marks against much taller defenders and his intense tackling pressure inside 50. He played a pivotal role in Brisbane's resurgence as a consistent finals contender, often delivering clutch goals in close contests. However, his tenure at the Lions faced a significant hurdle in 2024 when he ruptured his ACL early in the season, cruelly denying him a place in the club's premiership team. Now a veteran of the squad, McCarthy remains a highly respected figure as he undertakes rehabilitation to extend his career.
