Bio
Recruited from Carrum on the Mornington Peninsula, Llew Owens was a lightly built rover and forward who commenced his VFL career with Fitzroy in 1947. He managed five senior appearances for the Lions in his debut season, demonstrating an ability to hit the scoreboard, but subsequently spent several years out of the league's top tier. Owens earned a second opportunity at the elite level with South Melbourne in 1951, adding two games to his tally without managing to cement a permanent place in the side. While his VFL career was brief, he later established himself as a consistent performer in the VFA, playing over 50 games and kicking 44 goals for Port Melbourne in the early 1950s.
