Recruited from Stawell in country Victoria, Lloyd Jones was a diminutive winger who forged a respectable VFL career during one of the bleakest eras in St Kilda's history. Standing just 170cm and weighing 67kg, he relied on his agility and outside run to compete against larger opponents, holding his spot in the senior side from his debut in 1930 until 1935. Jones played the vast majority of his football in a severely struggling team, with the Saints claiming the wooden spoon in four of his six seasons at the Junction Oval. Despite the lack of team success, he remained a consistent contributor for the club, notching 54 games and providing serviceable midfield support before departing the VFL scene in the mid-1930s.
