Bio
Lochie Burrows emerged as a draft bolter in 2026, rising from relative obscurity to become a highly rated prospect. A competitive junior from Bentleigh, Burrows caught the eye playing for the Sandringham Dragons and Wesley College. His season gained serious momentum during a Vic Metro trial game against Vic Country. Given only four days' notice of a switch to defence, he shut down a dangerous opponent while providing rebound and counter-attack. That performance locked in his place in the Vic Metro side for the National Championships, where he continued to impress on the big stage.
Listed as a rebounding defender, Burrows is a powerful and physically tough utility who loves to tackle and break through packs. He boasts positional versatility, having started the year as a forward capable of ground-level burst before showcasing his dash and kicking skills off half-back. While he is described as a moments player who does not always gather large amounts of the ball, his competitive drive has captured the attention of scouts. Recruiters remain split on whether his long-term AFL future lies in attack, the midfield or defence, but his strong traits have seen him widely discussed as a potential top-20 selection.
