Stats
Bio
Recruited from Edithvale, Jack "Lockie" Wood was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who arrived at the Brunswick Street Oval for the 1926 season. Standing just 170cm, Wood relied on his agility and ground-level work to compete against larger opponents, often rotating through the forward line where he showed flashes of scoring potential, most notably booting three goals against Melbourne in early 1928. Despite managing 11 games in his debut year, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Maroons' starting 18, drifting in and out of the senior side over three seasons as a fringe player before his VFL career concluded. While his time at the top level was brief, Wood remained a committed figure who later served his country, enlisting in the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second World War.
