Bio
A western suburbs sporting fixture nicknamed "Louie the Fly," Lou Barker was a local product recruited from Braybrook following his service in the RAAF during World War II. Standing 178cm, he managed 23 senior appearances for Footscray over three seasons, often rotating through the side as a utility. Unable to cement a long-term position at the Bulldogs, Barker transferred to the VFA where he found immediate success, featuring in Williamstown's 1949 premiership side. His influence on local sport extended well beyond his playing days, as he went on to coach Spotswood to a flag and served as a prominent administrator in both local cricket and bowls.
