Stats
Bio
Hailing from the north-eastern Victorian town of Chiltern, Lou Gatti was a diminutive rover and forward who progressed from the Chiltern Valley district to the VFL ranks during the mid-1930s. Standing at just 168cm, he relied on his low centre of gravity and crumbing ability, making his debut for South Melbourne in 1935 where he managed four appearances in the red and white. Unable to cement a permanent spot at the Lake Oval, Gatti crossed to St Kilda ahead of the 1936 season in search of greater opportunities. He featured in five senior matches for the Saints over two years, drifting between the forward pocket and the ball, but ultimately struggled to break into the senior side consistently. His league career concluded after the 1937 season, leaving a legacy as a handy depth player who represented two clubs in a brief nine-game stint at the elite level.
