Bio
Recruited from Williamstown in the VFA, Lou Salvas was a solid key-position utility who made a brief but effective cameo for Hawthorn during the Second World War. Standing at 188cm—a considerable height for the era—Salvas provided a capable target in attack, booting seven goals in his five senior appearances in the 1943 season. Like many players of the wartime period, his VFL tenure was short-lived; he returned to the Seagulls after the war, where he carved out a distinguished VFA career spanning over 100 games and more than a century of goals. Salvas remained a dedicated servant of the game long after hanging up the boots, later serving as a committeeman and administrator for the Melbourne Football Club in the 1970s.
