Bio
Recruited from the Paddington Football Club in Sydney, Loyal Oakley was a Tasmanian native who had previously established himself with Lefroy in the TFL. Standing just 170cm, he was a pacy wingman and rover known for his precise stab-kicking. Oakley broke into the Richmond side for the opening round of the 1923 season against Melbourne, but competition for spots at Punt Road was fierce. He managed just one further senior appearance—a Round 4 clash with St Kilda—before drifting out of VFL contention. Following his brief stint in Melbourne, he eventually returned to Tasmania to play for Richmond and Lefroy, later making a fleeting appearance for Sandringham in the VFA.
