Bio
Selected by Hawthorn with the eighth overall pick in the 2002 National Draft, Luke Brennan carried the significant expectations of a top-ten selection but struggled to translate his junior potential into a consistent AFL career. A tall key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground, he managed sporadic appearances across four seasons at Glenferrie Oval without cementing a spot in the best 22. Seeking greater opportunity, Brennan was traded to the Sydney Swans prior to the 2007 season, where he was utilised primarily to add depth to the club's defensive stocks. Despite the change of scenery, he found it difficult to break into the Swans' disciplined backline on a regular basis, adding just nine games to his tally before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2008 season.
