Bio
A product of the Wangaratta Magpies in the Ovens & Murray Football League, Luke Norman earned his opportunity at the elite level the hard way, working his way up through Melbourne’s supplementary list before being selected with pick 68 in the 1994 National Draft. A "bullocking" utility and defender who played with the hard-edged intensity typical of mature-age country recruits, Norman featured in 16 games for the Demons across two seasons but struggled to secure a permanent spot in the senior lineup. Following his delisting at the end of 1996, he forged a distinguished career in the SANFL, initially with South Adelaide before becoming a stalwart at West Adelaide, where he captained the club and won the 2004 Best and Fairest. He later transitioned successfully into coaching, notably guiding Sturt to the 2009 SANFL Grand Final in his rookie season as senior coach.
