Bio
A key position prospect recruited from Zillmere, Luke Weller faced the formidable challenge of breaking into the Brisbane Lions' lineup during their dominant "three-peat" era. Originally selected in the 2000 Rookie Draft, he toiled in the reserves before earning elevation to the senior list in 2003, managing four games as a tall defender in a backline anchored by premiership stars. Despite showing promise, he was delisted by the Lions but quickly found a lifeline at Richmond via the Pre-Season Draft. Weller added seven games for the Tigers in 2004, offering defensive depth, but was unable to cement a permanent spot at Punt Road during a transitional period for the club. He subsequently carved out a distinguished career in the WAFL, highlighted by a best-and-fairest award with East Fremantle.
