Stats
Bio
A local recruit from the Braybrook Football Club, Lyle Anderson was a solid utility player who earned his opportunity with Footscray in the years following their maiden premiership. Standing 178cm with a sturdy frame, he was typically deployed in defensive roles where his physical strength could be utilised, though he was versatile enough to rotate through other positions when required. His time at the Western Oval coincided with a transitional period for the Bulldogs, and while he proved to be a handy depth player capable of filling gaps in the lineup, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the starting 18. Anderson featured sporadically over three seasons, notably appearing in the 1959 Kornies collector card series, before concluding his VFL career at the end of that year.
