Bio
Born in Maffra but recruited from local club Barwon, Mac Stokes was a small utility who faced the difficult task of breaking into a Geelong side entering a powerhouse era. Standing just 174cm, he made his debut in 1929 and showed initial promise, but found himself on the fringe of a squad brimming with Hall of Fame talent like "Carji" Greeves and Reg Hickey. Stokes managed just nine senior games across three seasons, unable to displace the established stars during the club's dominant run to the 1931 premiership. He eventually returned to the Geelong & District Football League with Barwon in 1934 before serving in the Second World War.
