Bio
Arthur "Mac" Wilson arrived at Melbourne with an impressive sporting pedigree, the son of former University footballer Arthur Wilson and grandson of Test cricketer Bob McLeod. Recruited from Scotch College, where he had captained the First XVIII, the teenage midfielder showed immediate promise by breaking into the senior lineup in 1941. He played his five games as an amateur, booting two goals, before the escalation of the Second World War intervened. Wilson joined the 1st Australian Parachute Battalion, and like many of his generation, his league football career was effectively ended by his military service, as he did not return to the VFL level following the conflict.
