Bio
Recruited from local side Balwyn in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, Mack Atkins was a rover and forward pocket who played for Hawthorn during a particularly lean era for the club. Standing 175cm, he joined a Hawks outfit that was struggling near the bottom of the ladder, making his debut in the 1952 season where the club eventually collected the wooden spoon. Atkins served largely as a fringe player at Glenferrie Oval, rotating through the forward line to boot 9 goals across his 18 senior appearances. He provided depth for three seasons but was unable to cement a permanent spot in the starting 18, eventually departing the VFL scene at the conclusion of the 1954 season.
