Bio
Majak Daw etched his name in history as the first Sudanese-born player to be drafted into the AFL when he was selected by North Melbourne in the 2010 Rookie Draft. Possessing elite athleticism and a towering physique, Daw initially struggled to cement a regular spot as a forward-ruck, showing flashes of brilliance interspersed with periods of inconsistency before finding his best form as an intercepting defender in 2018. After sustaining serious injuries in a significant off-field incident, he completed a demanding rehabilitation to return to the senior side in 2020, playing four games in what became his final season at Arden Street. Following his delisting by the Kangaroos, he was offered a lifeline by Melbourne during the 2021 pre-season supplemental selection period, though he did not add to his game tally at the Demons and retired in mid-2022 as a cultural pioneer for the competition.
