Bio
A product of the West Coast Eagles' Next Generation Academy, Malakai Champion arrived at the club as a highly rated small forward from the Goldfields region. After cutting his teeth with Subiaco in the WAFL—where he notably booted three goals on senior debut against the Eagles' reserves—the Kalgoorlie native officially joined the AFL list following the 2024 draft period. Known for his blistering speed and elite agility, Champion plays as a high-pressure forward who relies on his chase-down tackling to harass opposition defenders and create turnovers. He earned a brief taste of senior football with two appearances in his 2025 debut season, showing glimpses of his defensive intent and ground-level craft despite failing to hit the scoreboard. Heading into his second year, he remains a developing livewire fighting to cement a permanent spot in the Eagles' forward pocket.
