Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle with pick 23 in the 2012 National Draft, Marco Paparone arrived at the Brisbane Lions touted for his elite endurance and athleticism as a tall running utility. Initially deployed as a roaming forward capable of pushing up the ground to present a marking target, he eventually transitioned into a role as a rebound defender and wingman where he could utilise his aerobic capacity to link play between the arcs. He enjoyed his most consistent football between 2014 and 2015, becoming a regular fixture in the side, but subsequently struggled to cement a spot in the senior lineup due to persistent hamstring injuries and fluctuating form. Unable to break back into the team during the club's rebuilding phase under Chris Fagan, Paparone was delisted at the conclusion of the 2018 season after managing just five senior appearances in his final three years.
