Bio
Recruited as a mature-age prospect from West Perth with pick 35 in the 2015 National Draft, Marcus Adams immediately drew attention for his imposing physique and ability to read the play. Dubbed "The Specimen," the key defender displayed elite intercept marking skills and surprising speed, though his three seasons at the Western Bulldogs were heavily curtailed by soft tissue injuries that ultimately cost him a place in the 2016 premiership side. Seeking a fresh start and greater continuity, Adams moved to the Brisbane Lions following the 2018 season, where he eventually solidified a spot in a formidable backline alongside Harris Andrews. While he produced arguably the best football of his career at the Gabba, particularly in 2021 and 2022, his body remained a source of frustration. His career was brought to a premature close in 2023 when severe, lingering concussion symptoms forced him into retirement, leaving him as a player of immense talent whose output was limited by misfortune.
