Bio
Recruited from East Perth, Marcus Seecamp began his AFL career with Fitzroy after being selected with pick 40 in the 1991 National Draft. He served his apprenticeship in the Lions' defence during the club's tumultuous final years as a standalone entity, playing three seasons at the Western Oval before being traded to Melbourne prior to the 1995 season.
At Melbourne, Seecamp solidified his reputation as a disciplined, defensive-minded key back. Noted for his spoiling ability and tight checking rather than rebounding flair, he became a reliable stopper capable of containing dangerous opposition forwards. He was a regular fixture in the senior side throughout the late 1990s, playing a significant role in the Demons' run to the Preliminary Final in 1998. Seecamp's career concluded on the biggest stage, as he manned the key defensive posts in the 2000 Grand Final loss to the dominant Essendon side before retiring immediately after the match.
