Bio
Recruited from East Doncaster, Mark Bunn made a stunning immediate impact upon his arrival at Fitzroy, finishing runner-up in the club's best and fairest award in his debut 1990 season—a remarkable feat for a first-year player. A consistent defender who could win his own ball and apply pressure, Bunn appeared set for a long tenure with the Lions but struggled to maintain his spot in the senior side by 1992, managing just three appearances in his final year at the club. Handed a lifeline by Hawthorn with pick 30 in the 1993 Pre-Season Draft, he provided valuable defensive depth for the Hawks over three seasons, enjoying his most consistent run in the seniors during the 1994 campaign. While he never quite recaptured the heights of his rookie season, Bunn carved out a respectable career as a reliable backman before transitioning into a successful post-football career as a health and wellness author and speaker.
