Bio
Recruited from Essendon's local zone, Mark Eustice was a flamboyant and talented utility who quickly became recognisable for his long blonde hair and dashing play style. He featured prominently for the Bombers during their rise under Kevin Sheedy, playing on a wing in the heavy 1983 Grand Final loss to Hawthorn. However, he struggled to hold his spot in the formidable 1984 lineup, missing out on the premiership side before transferring to Richmond the following year in search of consistent senior opportunities.
The move to Punt Road proved individually successful even as the Tigers endured a turbulent period on the field. Eustice's hard running and ball-winning ability saw him claim the Jack Dyer Medal as Richmond's best and fairest in 1985, a rare highlight for the club during a difficult season. He eventually crossed to the Sydney Swans during the 1988 season, adding depth and experience to their midfield and half-forward line. Eustice retired in 1991, remembered as a skilled contributor who produced his best football when given major responsibility at Richmond.
