Bio
Recruited from North Hobart, Mark Harwood was a highly rated Tasmanian junior selected by Port Adelaide with pick 9 in the 1996 National Draft, joining the club's foundation list ahead of their inaugural AFL season. A versatile key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground, he was made to wait until mid-1998 to make his senior debut. While capable of providing spectacular highlights—most notably a soaring mark against Fremantle at the WACA in 1999—Harwood struggled to build continuity in the Power's lineup due to persistent injury setbacks. Unable to fulfil the promise of his top-10 draft status, he managed 30 games over four seasons before being delisted at the end of 2001, eventually continuing his state league career in the SANFL.
