Bio
Recruited from Claremont in the WAFL, Mark Hepburn was a mobile big man who established himself as a serviceable ruckman and key position player during the late 1980s. After making a perfect start to his VFL career by booting a goal with his first kick for North Melbourne, he developed into the Kangaroos' primary ruckman, leading the club’s hit-out count in both 1989 and 1990. Seeking a return to his native Western Australia, Hepburn requested a trade to West Coast in 1991 but found it difficult to break into the dominant Eagles lineup that was on the verge of premiership success. He was eventually delisted and spent a year travelling overseas before the Sydney Swans offered him an AFL lifeline via the 1993 National Draft, where he played a handful of games as a backup tall in 1994.
