Bio
Recruited to St Kilda as a teenager, Mark Kellett was a durable tall defender who forged a respectable career across three states during the 1980s. He made his debut for the Saints as an 18-year-old in 1979, enduring a tough initiation into senior football by playing 13 games before experiencing his first win. Despite the club's on-field struggles, he developed into a reliable backman at Moorabbin before crossing to Footscray in 1983. His stint at the Western Oval saw him play regular senior football, featuring in both of the Bulldogs' finals matches during their strong 1985 campaign.
Kellett's move to Sydney in the late 1980s was originally driven by employment opportunities rather than football, but the Swans convinced him to resume his playing career in 1988. He provided valuable experience to the Sydney backline for three seasons, adding depth and composure to the squad before retiring for good at the end of 1990. A solid, no-nonsense defender throughout his 155 games, Kellett maintained a strong connection to the game post-retirement and later served as a board member for St Kilda.
