Bio
Recruited from the local western suburbs club Parkside, Mark Komp was a tall utility who provided a physical presence for Footscray during the early 1980s. Standing at 191cm, he offered versatility as a key position option or relief ruckman, though he was often noted for an unorthodox kicking style that earned him the nickname "Klippity" among teammates. Despite his physical size and honest effort, Komp battled to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup, managing 23 games over a short stint at the Western Oval before his VFL career concluded. A secondary teacher by trade, he remained deeply connected to the football community post-retirement, becoming a fixture in Superules competition and maintaining a strong link to the club as a passionate past player.
