Recruited from Melbourne Grammar, Mark Langdon was a mid-sized utility who spent six seasons on St Kilda's list during a particularly bleak era for the club. He made his debut in 1947 but found it difficult to command a regular place in the senior side, serving largely as a depth player while the Saints endured multiple wooden spoon seasons. Langdon’s career was defined by his struggle for continuity, as he never managed more than nine appearances in a single year and frequently shuffled between the reserves and the firsts to fill gaps in the lineup. Despite the lack of consistent selection, he persisted at the Junction Oval for over half a decade, eventually departing after the 1952 season with 32 games to his credit.
