Bio
Recruited from West Perth, Mark Merenda arrived at Richmond via the 1993 Pre-Season Draft and developed into a versatile half-forward and wingman. He was a clever user of the ball with a knack for hitting the scoreboard, playing a supporting role in the Tigers' surge to the 1995 Preliminary Final before enjoying his best individual campaign in 1996, where he polled well in the club's best and fairest count. While capable of impactful bursts, he struggled to maintain a permanent spot in the senior side during the late 1990s as the Tigers' list evolved.
Seeking greater opportunity and a return to his home state, Merenda was traded to West Coast at the end of 2000. He added experience to the Eagles' lineup but was unable to recapture his peak form, playing 26 games over two seasons while battling for consistency. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2002 season, ending his career as a centurion who played his most memorable football at Punt Road.
