Bio
Recruited from Subiaco via the 2003 Rookie Draft, Mark Nicoski began his career as a rebounding defender known for his pace and booming left-foot kick. He quickly cemented a spot in West Coast's formidable mid-2000s lineup, featuring in the 2005 Grand Final loss to Sydney. However, his career narrative was often defined by cruel timing; he suffered a fractured ankle late in the 2006 season, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as his teammates captured the premiership.
Following several seasons interrupted by shoulder and groin issues, Nicoski enjoyed a career renaissance in 2011 when he was reinvented as a high-pressure defensive forward. He played every game that season and finished as the club's joint leading goalkicker alongside Josh Kennedy, instrumental in the Eagles' surge to a preliminary final. Unfortunately, this form proved to be a final flourish rather than a new beginning, as severe hamstring tendon injuries wiped out his 2012 and 2013 campaigns, ultimately forcing the popular clubman into retirement.
