Bio
A product of the Diamond Valley Football League, Mark Perkins caught the eye of Collingwood recruiters after a standout 1986 season with Heidelberg West, where he won the Frank Smith Medal as the division's best and fairest. A diminutive but sharp-shooting rover, he made an immediate impact at Victoria Park, debuting late in the 1987 season with a two-goal performance against Richmond before bagging a haul of four against St Kilda shortly after. Despite a promising start where he averaged better than a goal a game, Perkins fell out of favour and failed to register a senior appearance throughout the entire 1988 season. He returned for a fleeting cameo in early 1989 before departing the VFL, eventually returning to the Diamond Valley to captain-coach North Heidelberg to a premiership in the mid-1990s.
