Teams

Recruited from Burwood United, Mark Scott was a prolific full-forward who spent much of his career straddling the divide between reserve-grade dominance and senior opportunity. Standing 196cm, he initially struggled to break into a star-studded Hawthorn lineup that included established forwards like Michael Moncrieff, despite topping the club's reserves goalkicking in 1977 and 1978. His search for regular senior football led to a mid-season trade to St Kilda in 1980—a deal that saw future premiership star Russell Greene head the other way. Scott made an immediate impact at Moorabbin, leading the Saints' goalkicking in both 1980 and 1982 with his strong marking and reliable conversion. He moved to Fitzroy in 1983, where he played out the remainder of his career as a valuable depth player, ultimately retiring as a three-time reserves leading goalkicker who averaged more than two goals a game whenever he stepped up to the senior level.
