Honours

Recruited from Heyfield via the Gippsland Power, Mark Stevens began his career at North Melbourne, where he found himself stuck behind the legendary Wayne Carey in the key forward pecking order. Struggling to cement a regular spot in the powerful Kangaroos lineup, he was traded to Adelaide at the end of 1997 in a direct swap for Jason McCartney. The move paid immediate dividends; Stevens became a key fixture in the Crows' side during his debut season, culminating in a premiership victory against his former club in the 1998 Grand Final.

Standing 194cm, Stevens developed into a versatile key position asset for Adelaide, capable of holding down a defensive post or swinging forward to present a strong marking target. His resilience was highlighted after a broken leg ruined his 2000 campaign; he returned in 2001 to play the best football of his career, finishing runner-up to Andrew McLeod in the Club Champion award. A two-time winner of the Best Team Man award, Stevens was highly regarded for his selfless role-playing, though persistent injuries eventually forced him to retire early in the 2005 season shortly after notching his 100th game for the club.
