Bio
Recruited from the Victorian Amateur Football Association, Mark Summers was a mobile tall who earned a second chance at the elite level after an initial stint with Melbourne's under-19s. Following a dominant period with Old Xaverians that saw him named an All-Australian Amateur in 1987, Summers joined Richmond and quickly demonstrated his utility as a ruckman and centre half-forward. Standing 193cm, he was noted for his capacity to play in front and present as a marking target, showing significant potential as a key position pillar for the Tigers. He established himself as a regular in the senior side during the 1989 season, but his promising trajectory was halted by a serious knee injury that ultimately forced his retirement from League football.
