Bio
An Indigenous journeyman who took the scenic route to the AFL, West arrived at the Whitten Oval via the Darwin Buffaloes, a reserves stint at Brisbane, and South Adelaide in the SANFL. Recognisable by his dreadlocks, he was a pacy, high-impact midfielder who attacked the contest with ferocious intent, often described as playing with a "crash and bash" style. While his senior career spanned just 16 games, he is forever linked to the Western Bulldogs' heartbreaking 1997 Preliminary Final loss to Adelaide; West played the game of his life with 24 disposals and two goals, but famously sprayed a running shot in the dying minutes that would have likely sealed a Grand Final berth. Shoulder injuries derailed his 1998 campaign, and despite returning for another Preliminary Final appearance that year, he was delisted at season's end, leaving behind a legacy of unfulfilled potential.
