Teams

Recruited from Claremont in Western Australia, Marley Williams entered the AFL via the rookie list before earning his debut with Collingwood in 2012. He quickly carved out a niche as a combative small defender, known for his aggression at the contest and willingness to take the game on with dashing rebound from the back half. Despite becoming a regular fixture in the Magpies' lineup and playing in finals campaigns early in his career, his position wavered by the end of 2016 due to form and injury struggles. Seeking a fresh start to reignite his football, he was traded to North Melbourne for a nominal selection during the exchange period.

At Arden Street, Williams successfully revitalised his career, adding grit and experience to the Kangaroos' defensive unit. He was often tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous small forwards, playing with a physical edge that belied his stature. While he provided stability during a transitional period for the club and reached the 100-game milestone, he eventually fell out of the senior side as the club looked to regenerate its list. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2020 season, finishing his tenure at the elite level as a hard-nosed and serviceable back pocket player.
