Bio
Recruited from the prestigious football nursery of St Patrick’s College in Ballarat, Marshall Younger joined South Melbourne as a schoolboy prodigy, making his senior debut at just 16 years of age in 1956. Standing 183cm, he possessed the height of a key position player for the era but was primarily deployed as a running half-back or winger, where he could use his size and athleticism to rebound from defence. Despite his historically young entry into the VFL, he battled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side during a lean period for the club, serving mostly as a depth player across his six seasons at the Lake Oval. He eventually departed the VFL to continue his football journey in Western Australia, managing a brief stint with East Perth in the early 1960s.
