Bio
Recruited from Central District, Marty McKinnon initially joined the Adelaide Crows but found it difficult to break into a dominant midfield rotation, prompting a trade to Geelong ahead of the 1996 season in a deal that helped the Crows secure premiership player Kane Johnson. A pacy wingman who could push forward and hit the scoreboard, McKinnon played his most consistent football during his three-year stint at Kardinia Park, utilizing his speed and goal sense to become a regular fixture in the Cats' side. He was traded again to the Brisbane Lions in 1999, arriving just as Leigh Matthews took charge, but he struggled to impact the senior side during the club's rapid rise to power and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2000 season.
