Stats
Bio
A local product recruited from the Carlton Juniors, Matt Crowe was a forward who showed a surprising eye for goal during his brief tenure at Princes Park. Breaking into the senior side for the opening round of the 1903 season against arch-rivals Collingwood, he managed to hit the scoreboard regularly, averaging better than a goal a game during the low-scoring "dead-ball" era. Despite his efficiency inside 50, Crowe struggled to cement a permanent place in a rapidly improving squad under legendary secretary-coach Jack Worrall, who was in the process of ruthlessly assembling the roster that would soon win three consecutive premierships. After making a final appearance early in the 1904 season, he was unable to keep pace with the club's rise and drifted out of the league just as the Blues were entering their golden era.
